Good publication practices: declaration, endorsement, and now enforcement of the reporting standards

This editorial introduces a new procedure for reviewing manuscripts of original research. Starting from the next year, such manuscripts will be accepted for consideration only if they comply with the recommendations of the publication guidelines from the EQUATOR Network library and have an ethics committee opinion obtained at the research planning stage. The list of information to be provided in a manuscript when submitting it to a journal has been expanded. After the introduction of these rules in full, the registration of a manuscript before its beginning and submission of primary data of the study to the editorial board with subsequent (in case of acceptance of the work for publication) publication will become a mandatory condition for acceptance of the manuscript for consideration. The aim of the introduced changes is to realise the transition from ‘organic growth’ of the journal to controlled development with observance of the principles of integrity in science.
